Cookies

a) What exactly are cookies?

Cookies are small pieces of information which are stored on your computer, tablet or mobile phone when Internet pages are visited and which, in general, are used for a more effective design of Internet pages. Some cookies (Session Cookies) are deleted automatically when the browser is closed, others (Persistent Cookies or Tracking Codes) are archived on the corresponding hardware until a certain expiration date or until the temporary memory of your browser has been emptied and enable us to be able to identify you as a repeated visitor to our Internet pages. The majority of Internet browsers accept cookies automatically. However, with simple clicking, you can change the settings of your browser if you do not wish this. More detailed information on cookies can be found at www.allaboutcookies.org.

b) Why are cookies used by us?

We use cookies to:

  • guarantee a secure Internet environment
  • check our website performance and improve the user-friendliness as well as the online experience for our customers

We do not use cookies to track your Internet activities outside the Internet pages maintained by us.

The types of cookies named following are used by us to be better able to judge the way our online services are used by our customers and to configure our services in a better way. As a result, we can recognize, for example, when a process is too complex and the users discontinue the process for this reason. With this knowledge, the process steps can be simplified and configured in a more customer-orientated manner.

c) Which types of cookie exist?

Type of cookie Intended purpose
Session Cookies Are deleted after the browser has been closed. Serve to capture the navigation as well as the dwell time on the Internet pages and to keep your login active during the session.
Tracking Codes Do not contain any personal data. Capture from where the page view has taken place, which search engine has been used, which link has been clicked and which key word has been selected and pinpoints the location of the user at the time of the page view. Capture the number of visits as well as the duration of the first, the current and the previous visit. These cookies only record visits to the Internet pages maintained by us and are not activated during visits to other Internet pages.

You can delete the cookies inserted for our Internet pages. In this case however, your individual data and contents, including your cookie settings, will be lost and you will not be recognized as a returning visitor when you next view our Internet pages. The legal basis for the use of cookies is provided by point (f) of Article 6(1) GDPR. Only the Internet protocol address is stored here – no other personal data.

d) Do you agree to our cookies?

We provide some online features to you which should make your visit to our Internet pages as comfortable as possible. These only function with the support of cookies, however. If you continue to navigate on our pages, you agree to the use of these cookies. You can revoke your consent at any time. Please observe here, however, that, for an unhindered navigation on our Internet pages, several ‟basicˮ cookies are indispensable. In addition, these cookies are only used by us to check the efficiency of the Internet pages and to capture the visitor frequency.

Integration of services and contents of third parties

It may be that, within this online service, contents of third parties, such as videos from YouTube, map material from Google Maps, RSS feeds or graphics, for example, are integrated from other Internet pages.

This always assumes that the providers of these contents (in the following called ‟third party providersˮ) detect the IP address of the users. For, without the IP address, the third party providers could not send the contents to the browser of the respective user. The IP address is therefore necessary for the presentation of these contents.

When using Google Maps/Open Street Maps, also data on the use of the Maps functions by visitors to the Internet pages is recorded, processed and used by Google (Google Inc., 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, California, 94043).
